Experiencing awe and wonder at La Fête des Tentes

I really enjoyed La Fête des Tentes weekend in Quebec. The three day retreat was an excellent opportunity for personal reflection, for deepening my understanding about Saint Francis and the  Franciscan way of life, and for offering me a renewed sense of my life’s direction and mission.

I met enthusiastic young people who were excited about the Lord, lifted my voice to God with them through wonderful songs of praise, shared heart to heart conversation, embraced fun-filled activities, and soaked in the beauty of the nature into which our Creator has delicately placed so much splendid detail.

From the theme; “Le Repas du marcheur: de la création à la communion... l’Eucharistie”, I learned about the importance of meeting God in adoration and receiving the Eucharist as my “meal”, energy, refocusing agent for my mission upon the road which God has called me to travel.

I believe that this experience with the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary opened up my eyes to recognize a horizon which is full of multiple avenues for receiving hints of God’s greatness through “awe and wonder”. I believe that these sightings and feelings of awe and wonder are gifts for each one of us, from God’s loving self.

I am grateful for the close sisterhood which I experienced during my three days with the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Sisters and I am thankful for all of the spiritual growth which God’s grace blessed me with.
